At the first meeting of the Presbytery of Tropical Florida for the year 2008, we were welcomed by The Rev. Mr. Douglas LaPointe, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Stuart. We also
Remembered Reverently the lives of Pastor and Elder saints who had entered the Church Triumphant in 2007.
Worshiped and Celebrated the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper under the inspired leadership of our retiring Moderator, Elder. Mary Newman, Dr Arlene Gordon, Presbytery Executive, and Rev. Doug
La Pointe, Pastor of First, Stuart.
Celebrated The service of Elder Mary Newman as Moderator for 2007 and
Welcomed Elder David Luhrsen as Moderator for 2008.
Elected the following persons as commissioners to the 218th General Assembly:

- The Rev. Ms. Mary Wright,

Received reports and greetings from The Rev. Mr. Reg Parsons, Synod Executive, Dr. Arlene Gordon, Presbytery Executive, as well as a variety of motions from a number of committees.
Enjoyed a delicious lunch served by the women of the Church under the thoughtful direction of Elder Polly Shafer.
Accepted with regret, the resignation of The Rev. Mr. John Stewart, Associate for Disaster Relief and Nurture.
Adopted the statement of parity between ministers and elders prepared by the Stated Clerk, Dr. Peter S. Wendell.
Adjourned to meet next May 9th and 10th at Trinity Church, Key West.
