COORDINATOR FOR DISASTER RECOVERY
Presbytery of Tropical Florida

Purpose:

    1. To guide, direct and coordinate the Presbytery disaster rebuilding, recovery, and
      response efforts (in partnership with interfaith recovery organizations and other
      recovery organizations).
    2. To work with churches damaged by the hurricanes or other disaster related events to address Presbytery concerns regarding property and building matters working as a team member with the Property Advisory, Congregational Transformation, Financial Resources and Disaster committees of Presbytery regarding long term effects of damage and viability of continued ministry.
    3. To provide support to congregations in strengthening the witness and ministry of the gospel in South Florida as churches recover from disaster related events.
    4. Develop procedures and prepare written guidelines for churches and Presbytery offices in preparation for future disaster events.  This includes purchasing and maintenance of equipment.

Position Responsibilities;

  1. Develop procedures and prepare financial analysis for rebuilding., recovery and response efforts.
    1. Work with Disaster Administrative Commissions (ACs) and the Disaster Response Committee to coordinate efforts in the event of a disaster including a plan of action for the Presbytery and the churches within the Presbytery and to address ongoing issues related to damage from previous disasters.
    2. Provide reliable data to the ACs and the Disaster Response Committee to justify approval of allocated resources.
    3. Coordinate with the Bookkeeper to maintain accountability for disaster related expenses and work with the AC's and the Financial Resources Committee in evaluating financial needs and meeting necessary reporting requirements.  In cases of total losses, evaluate viability of continued ministry and support to pastors and staff.
    4. Distribute and purchase needed supplies and equipment and maintain a requisition log for all equipment storage and use.
  1. Work in cooperation with the Presbytery Disaster Committee, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and local faith-based organizations, to provide the services related to disaster related events:
    1. Help devise a staffing pattern for volunteer disaster staff needs and coordination of volunteer work teams.
    2. Assist the AC's and Disaster Committee in developing a strategy for
      soliciting volunteers, assessing damage and preparing reports for PDA.
    3. Devise creative and innovative approaches based on emerging ministry
      models for disaster recovery.
    4. Explore possibilities and be an advocate for a covenant relationship with
      PC(U.S.A.) entities and churches for providing umbrella insurance policies.
    5. Represent the Presbytery at various meetings related to disaster recovery.
  1. Work with pastors in churches affected by hurricanes, the Property Advisory Committee, Congregational Transformation, Financial Resources and Disaster Committees to determine damage and potential to continue ministry. -cultural potential in South Florida.
    1. Assist in the development of effective models for doing ministry in the wake of disaster.
    2. Work with churches that have been damaged to complete necessary repairs and assist with suggested methods that may reduce the risk of further damage due to delayed maintenance.
  1. Reporting and Publicity
    1. Work with Information Technology Specialist to provide accurate and updated information for the web site on the status of churches after the hurricanes and in identifying particular needs of the Presbytery in the midst of hurricane damage.
  1. Coordinate ongoing training for AC's and the Disaster Response Committees and make available Compassion Fatigue Training for Pastors and Staff..
  1. Other duties as assigned and appropriate.

Supervision:
This staff person will be supervised by the Executive Presbyter.

Evaluation;
The employee will be evaluated based on defined goals and objectives as presented to the Human Resources Committee and the EP that meet the requirements of the position description.
Since this is a relatively new job description, the position description and the person will be evaluated by the Executive Presbyter and the Human Resources Committee at the end of one year. Employee evaluations will be completed on an annual basis.

Terms:
This position is for a three year period and may be renewed for a longer period based on Presbytery approval and funding availability. The first six months of employment will be considered a probationary period. During this time, employee may resign or the employee may be discharged without cause or notice. Thereafter, either party can terminate this relationship with cause immediately and without cause on thirty days written notice.

Qualifications:

    1. Minister or elder in Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) for a minimum of 5 years.
    2. Must be able to sign "Sexual Misconduct" form in the affirmative.
    3. A clear understanding of Presbyterian polity.
    4. Able to work with teams in a collaborative relationship.
    5. Experience in Disaster recovery.
    6. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic achievement.
    7. Good organizational skills
    8. Must be creative and innovative and able to think "outside the box."

Searching for Director of Youth Ministries.
Overall responsibility for planning, executing and evaluating all aspects of CPC ministries to, with and for Youth.
 
Performance and Evaluation -- Works under guidance of Head of Staff and Christian Education Committee and is evaluated annually by Policy and Personnel Committee of Session.  Evaluation includes position description and compensation.  Committee shall make recommendation(s) to Session for approval.
 
Qualifications -- 3 to 5 years experience with Christian based youth work.
                       Degree from accredited college or university
                       Experience and ability to fill Pulpit as needed
                       Preferred candidate will have completed or be in process of Lay Pastor training or equivalent

Reports to:  Pastor/Head of Staff/Session/Christian Growth and Nurture Committee

Purpose:  This person shall have primary responsibility for all educational and youth programs and ministries.  This position has as its main task to provide a successful, increasing program of education for children, youth and adults.   It is expected that this will include Sunday school, mid-week offerings, youth fellowship, special seasonal and summer events.  Planning, recruitment of volunteers, and training are functions of this position.  Evangelism, spiritual growth and pastoral care are actions necessitated by the position in relationships with the included in these areas of the life of the church.

Qualification:  Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Masters in Christian Education preferred.

Temporary Supply for Education, Youth and Pastoral Care

Position: Salaried – full time
Reports to:  Pastor/Head of Staff and Session

Purpose:  This person shall have primary responsibility for all educational and youth programs and ministries.  This person shall provide pastoral care through hospital, nursing home and member visitation, coordinating this schedule with the Pastor/Head of Staff.   This person shall assist the Pastor/Head of Staff in worship planning, leadership and preaching. 
            This position has as its main task to provide a successful, increasing program of education for children, youth and adults.   It is expected that this will include Sunday school, mid-week offerings, youth fellowship, special seasonal and summer events.  Planning, recruitment of volunteers, and training are functions of this position.  Yet this position involves a full range of functions associated with a Minister of Word and Sacrament, including pastoral care and calling, worship leadership, preaching, and administration. 

Qualification:  M.Div. or equivalent with special interest and/or training in Christian education, youth ministry and pastoral care.
