Beginning July of 2003, The Rev. Dr. Arlene Wallace Gordon has served as the Executive Presbyter for the Presbytery of Tropical Florida. Prior to her call to Florida, Dr. Gordon served the Presbytery of Detroit as Interim Executive Presbyter. She previously served as the Associate for Resource Center Development and Educational Ministry Advocates Support for the General Assembly Offices of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in Louisville, Kentucky.
Dr. Gordon responded to the call to ministry after many years working for the federal government, where she held many noteworthy positions, including Acting Director of the Office of Child Support Enforcement in San Francisco. She pursued religious studies at San Francisco Theological Seminary where she received her Master of Divinity Degree in 1990. As part of her seminary training, she completed a one year internship at St. John’s Presbyterian Church in Berkeley, California and a summer of Clinical Pastoral Education at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Martinez, California. While working for the General Assembly, Dr. Gordon received her doctorate from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. |
