Hi! My name is Faith Presbyterian Church. I am located in Palm Springs, Fl. Just, west of Lake Worth. Palm Springs is a village formed in 1958 and I was soon formed in 1960. My name then was Faith United Presbyterian Church but in June of 1983 the two large Presbyterian Denominations joined together and we dropped the United from our name. Doesn't make much sense does it? Since then we have been just Faith Presbyterian Church. We had our founding on May 1 st, 1960 and we will be celebrating our 45th. Anniversary on May 1st 2005. We welcome any and all to join us on this day as we celebrate. We will give a report on this activity later.
Now let me give you an insight of just what we are. We have a small congregation but a loving and active one. We are short of Youth as most of our small Churches are. We are working on bringing more into our church by having the contemporary type of service that they seem to want on Saturday nights. This program is just getting started and we will try to keep you advised of our success so that some of you might want to do the same.
The Church is located next to the Village complex and have the recreation fields beside us. This is good exposure but some still have a hard time finding us. The street that we are on has three different names with Dolan Road coming off Congress then it is Alemeda as it goes through the Village then it turns to Purdy Lane as it moves on west. This confuses some that are looking for us.
We have had some good Pastors starting with our first Robert Hime 1959-1963, Stanley Anderson 1963-1966, Earl Downey 1967-1972, Robert Eckard 1973-1982, William Loan 1982-1983, Ervin Joslin 1983-1988, Arthur Stephenson 1988-1993, Fred Loutsenhizer 1994-1999, John Kirkham 2000- Present.
That is our history-starting with a large group of new residences and considerable debt to a small congregation (62) and no debt.
We did have a lot of damage from the hurricanes and took on a $25,000.00 loan. All our repairs are finished and we are moving on. We are a loving, friendly congregation that believes in the teaching of the Bible and in Missions. Come visit us at any time we will welcome you with open arms and open hearts.
