Florida Fires

It has been difficult to tell what help might be needed in the midst of the fires.  Things seem to be getting under control at this point, but with no rain in the forecast it remains a volatile situation.  I have spoken with leaders in our congregations nearest the fires and they tell me that the firefighters are saying they have more water and Powerade than they can drink and that reinforcements are coming from other departments to help with the blazes.  Until the fires are out, it is not possible to know the extent of the damage nor the ways in which we can be of help.
As of 7 PM last night, I knew of one family in one of our churches whose home has been lost.  They have family in the area with whom they are staying.  There is a suspect in custody in Palm Bay.  95 is open again.  When we know of ways in which we can be of help, we will be in touch.
