Blessed is the only way to describe the people who are residents of the Florida Keys. We see blue -green water all around us that is clear and apt to transform to lavender or sapphire blue at a moment’s notice. We see enormous towering clouds that stretch from horizon to thousands of feet in the sky and the fresh “catch of the day” has probably been caught in our own backyard. Nowhere is God’s beauty more vividly displayed than every day here in Marathon, Florida.

Our Church is located in "the Heart of the Keys" somewhere between Florida City on the mainland and Key West. We alternate between the hustle and bustle of the winter season to our quiet time during the summer months. This seasonality truly makes the Kirk a one- of- a- kind in the Presbytery of Tropical Florida. This is the place where the "H"(hurricane) word is spoken in solemn tones and everyone looks skyward from June to November with a prayer on their lips.

We have been extremely blessed since November 2008, when Rev. Dustin Sedlak became our new Pastor. Dustin , his wife Caitlin and baby Caleb have brought a youthful and lively vitality to our church. We have great new plans for expanding our ministry to reach new members and exploring new ways to be even more involved with our community. However, while looking forward to the future we will continue to stay faithful to many of the traditions that we love.

In January, we celebrated our 50th anniversary with a gala dinner that was well attended by our members and friends from the community. Other recent highlights are the addition of 20 new members and for the first time in many, many years we have added 6 deacons to assist with church duties and planning. We will develop an expanded community outreach program, a small group bible study ministry and expansion of our missionary programs. We actively support K.A.I.R.(Keys Area Interdenominational Relief), the Domestic Abuse Shelter, Salvation Army and several other charitable organizations. Our Presbyterian Women’s Group is energetic and is a "make-it-happen " group of spirit-filled doers. We have a reputation of serving the best food in the Keys at our potluck dinners, fish fry’s and monthly prayer breakfasts. Our worship attendance and children’s church numbers are trending upward.

Does it sound like we love our piece of paradise? You bet we do! We are a close family and are proud of the things we have accomplished. Yet, we face the same challenges that any church today faces, financial woes and struggles to keep our checkbook balanced. We have additionally the added worry of the hurricane season since we have survived several direct hits with extensive property damage.  We know that we must continue to offer the always-relevant hope of the gospel, and find ways to reach un-churched and younger generations if we are to remain viable.

We trust that we can accomplish our goals with the help of God and the support of our hard-working members. Please come visit the beautiful Florida Keys and attend church with us. We are located at Mile Marker 51, Overseas Highway, Marathon, Florida.  www.KirkoftheKeys.com
