Bio

Edwin was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in a protestant family that modeled love to God, family and faithfulness to the church. Early in his teens he had lots of questions about God and society. In God’s grace Edwin began his spiritual journey at a Presbyterian Church with Dr. Mario Rivera Mendez Puerto Rico. The ministry of this church provided many answers and new questions, but above all, it provided a solid biblical foundation, great models, and inspiration and motivation to go into ministry.

Edwin got his undergraduate at The University of South Florida in Sociology and Psychology. Later he went to Trinity Evangelical Divinity School where he did studies in theology and pastoral counseling. He practiced and taught in several churches and colleges, while also working in community social services in both, Chicago and later in Miami. He returned to school and completed his M.Div. at The Florida Center for Theological Studies in 2005, that same year at the Presbytery of Tropical Florida; Edwin was ordained as Minister of the Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA).

His passions are in church re-development, transformation, and church growth; these things excite him and get him going! He is trilingual and fully bi-cultural which allows him to be a bridge builder between communities, especially in South Florida.

Edwin lives in South Florida with his lovely wife Loida, and three great kids; Edwin, Joseph, and Loidaly, all currently attending college. He is an excellent cook, gardener, teacher, and preacher. One of his favorite life verses are Romans 12:1-2, look it up!
